Our History
This is the 8th Annual Alberta Livestock Expo! It’s being held on October 14th & 15th at the Excite Lethbridge Exhibition and Trade Center. With livestock producers from across Alberta, Saskatchewan and Montana, plus Suppliers & Service Providers from Canada and around the world. Our two-day expo is a great opportunity to learn about new and innovative products and services, meet with customers, make new connections and develop new markets.
Some highlights from our show last year included:
- We had over 100 exhibitors and over 1000 attendees
- $30,200 raised for Ronald McDonald House Charities Alberta
- Over 6200 lbs of pork donated to area food banks and soup kitchens

Chinook Cardiac Centre Pork Quality Competition & Auction

The Pork Quality Competition is a powerful showcase of agricultural excellence and community generosity at the Alberta Livestock Expo.
Each year, more than 30 Hutterite Colonies donate one hog to be processed and graded by Canada Packers in Lethbridge. The Top 5 are selected and displayed in a refrigerated viewing cooler throughout the Expo before advancing to the live auction on the final day.
Hogs that do not place in the Top 5 are donated to local food banks and soup kitchens — with over 6,200 lbs of pork donated last year alone.
During the auction, expertly run by Perlich Bros Auction Market, winners are announced in ascending order and bidding begins immediately after each placement is revealed. This provides agricultural businesses and feed companies an opportunity to recognize their valued Hutterite customers & publicly support quality livestock production and a meaningful cause.
100% of auction proceeds, competition naming sponsorship and cooler sponsorship funds are donated to the chosen charity.
Last year, over $30,000 was raised for Ronald McDonald House Charities Alberta.
This year, funds raised through the Pork Quality Competition will support the new Cardiac Unit in Lethbridge, helping strengthen cardiac care for families across Southern Alberta.
This is a competition rooted in quality. A tradition built on community. An impact that extends far beyond the Expo.
